The best camera for filmaking and documentaries?

VITORFIEL asked:

Hi, I’m planing to buy a camera for independent productions (documentaries & movies), that I’ll be able to use for a while and with a “cinema” look. I rather a low budget camera. So far I’m between PANASONIC AGHVX200 and CANON XL2, but if anyone could recommend me some other or even help with those two, I would appreciate.

When looking into college film programs, which should I be more impressed by?

yeahh asked:

College A, whose alumni almost all have behind the scenes careers as crew members (casting directors, production assistants) on big name productions with just a few who have actually directed small films…

Or college B, whose alumni are almost all directors, shooting mostly smaller indie/avant-garde films and documentaries, with only a few who actually have regular crew member type jobs.

I’m wondering because I think it would be great to go to College B because the fact that most of the alumni are now directors makes me think that the program probably prepares students for directing positions more so than College A and probably has students that are very passionate about film.

But at the same time, College A’s alumni all have actual paying jobs, not just out there directing whatever they want, so it makes me think maybe employers are more impressed by a degree from College A and the employment prospects are better than those at College B.

And please don’t tell me “Go to NYU” or something stupid like that.
People have a tendency to answer every question about film education by simply telling the person to go to UCLA or something.

NYU and UCLA aren’t even options.

Inconvenient Truth. Why is it copy protected?

Wattsup! asked:

I just watched Al Gore’s documentary show.
Very enlightening and somewhat alarming.
At the end of the show it encourages everyone to tell others to watch the show.
For kicks and giggles, I wanted to see if it could be copied.
No. It’s copied protected. Yes, I do understand about profits and the need to pay for production.
Does the money above the cost of making it go into reducing CO2?
Wouldn’t it have been better to allow everyone to make copies to share it faster?
Just seemed odd. I know someone will see faults in my thought. What do you think?

Imconfused (governments and attempt to reduce production of c02)?

jocksnguis asked:

According to the counter-documentary to al gore’s “an inconvinient truth”. Scientists say that the C02 output produced by countries is just a small percentage to whats considered the biggest contributor to c02 namely the big blue oceans..

Here in holland the government is raising the taxes every year on numerous new things they can come up with in name of saving our eco-system, while it isnt sure we are the biggest cause the global warming. Though we do add to it, but not that much..
In parrallel while we (the citizens) still try our best to reduce car usage and cut back on energy consumption and pay for dim-energy saving lights, and they even hand out fines of we don’t,
they, the government built 2 extra coal-burning energy-plants.
Wich is one of the dirtiest and most environmental unfriendly but low cost and high energy-productive ways of producing juice for energy consumption..

Do you think governments maybe
..use this “truth” whether tue or not, but still use it as “A truth” or better put as an “excuse” to take more money from us citizens by giving “us” guilt feelings and putting the weight and the responsibillity of the eco on our shoulders and
let *us* even out the balance on the eco-system while they take more and more money so they can use it for other things like loewring state-debt etc??

Do you think what they do is wrong?

Help me find this documentary?

geotrader asked:

I’m looking for a documentary “Scapegoat or Murderer?: Georgia vs. Cassotta”. I had somewhat of a very close personal relationship with the girl that was murdered. If you can help me find where to obtain this I would appreciate it. I never knew it was even in production. Wish my interview with the GBI could have helped bring that guy down.

What is the music playing in the background of National Geographic’s “Inside Straight Edge” documentary?

Eccentric asked:

Heh, I liked it and I’ve searched everywhere for the production credits or something that might lead me to know more about it. I’m talking about the music playing when they bring up a new set of people related to straight edge (The authority, the discipline, the future, etc.) or at the very end during the credits. Please help me out? Much appreciated.
