Inconvenient Truth. Why is it copy protected?
Wattsup! asked:
I just watched Al Gore’s documentary show.
Very enlightening and somewhat alarming.
At the end of the show it encourages everyone to tell others to watch the show.
For kicks and giggles, I wanted to see if it could be copied.
No. It’s copied protected. Yes, I do understand about profits and the need to pay for production.
Does the money above the cost of making it go into reducing CO2?
Wouldn’t it have been better to allow everyone to make copies to share it faster?
Just seemed odd. I know someone will see faults in my thought. What do you think?

Because the movie has nothing to do with real science. It is just to make profits.
The movie left these facts:
1) 6,000 years ago, the earth was hotter than it is today.
2) Temperatures dropped in the 1950’s and 1990’s when CO2 levels were increasing.
3) 140,000 years the earth had record CO2 levels and there were no gasoline powered cars.
Well, you answered your own question. Filmmaking, regardless of the subject, is not an altruisitic endeavor, it’s about making a profit and paying all the people involved.
However, NativeEnergy, which works with individuals and organizations to help them compensate for their contributions to global warming, calculated the “carbon footprint” from producing “An Inconvenient Truth,” including all travel, office, and accommodations related emissions.
The company then offset emissions through renewable energy credits or “green tags” from new renewable energy projects. Paramount Classics and Participant will split the cost of these tags; the funds will go towards helping build new Native American, Alaskan Native Village, and farmer-owned renewable energy projects, creating sustainable economies for communities in need and diversifying our energy supply.
He probably did not want too close a scrutiny of some of it. For instance, where is that factory that is belching smoke into the air? That hasn’t been seen in the USA for 50 years. Also he left out some other inconvenient truths. Such as—
Who measured his CO2 levels? Where? What season? Urban or rural? At what altitude? Day or Night? Behind a car’s exhaust pipe? Also, he made no mention of the fact that the oceans are a huge CO2 sink. They take up CO2 instantly upon contact. Cold water is even faster. Growing plants also take up CO2 instantly. But this is only a minor system as land is only 15% of the earths surface. Is only during the daytime and is seasonal. The gradient of CO2 absorption is downward to the oceans. He also made no mention of the primary cause of CO2 pollution( if it is true). That would be JET engines. They are burning hundreds of thousands of pounds of kerosene daily above 20,000 ft Nature does not have a quick system to rid the upper atmosphere of it. Jets have been present for 40+ years and are increasing in use. Seems to fit his time line.eh?
Well they were forcing schoolchildren to watch it, so they definitely want to show the younger more impressionable crowds as much of this garbage as possible. It works because kids don’t know it’s mostly lies. They believe that we’re killing off the planet just by leaving our lights on too long, so they cry to their parents that if you don’t turn off your lights the polar bears will all drown. Pathetic the way they play with kids’ emotions.
I finally watched that movie on some website, and I must admit it is well done. It’s like Fahrenheit 911 - very well put together. The other thing those two films have in common is the fact that they are misexplaining info on purpose. They very craftily mix myth with fact and leave out contradictions. Often showing things in the wrong context is very effective too.
No wonder Gore won’t debate the issue. He has no real facts to back up his assertions and predictions.
And who put out that nonsense about CO2 being a poisonous gas? I thought I’d heard everything…
